Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God,
and keep the vows you made to the Most High.
Then call on me when you are in trouble,
and I will rescue you,
and you will give me glory.
Psalm 50: 14-15
I understand this as…
If I offer up any or all of the below:
- genuine praise to God, thanking Him for His Son Jesus, for His love, for all of His blessings in my life
- meditating on His faithfulness, remembering the trials He has pulled me through and never let me down. Remembering the victories He has given me
- an offering of time, money, resources to Jesus to and/or through my church, my daily life in giving to others in need
I will have a truly grateful heart and attitude toward God. And will realize that nothing good I have I deserve. It is all a gift from Him.
As a disciple of Christ, I am committed to following Jesus. If I stay on His path – seeking Him, praising Him, continually talking to Him, letting Him work on me day in and day out – when I call on Him to rescue me…
He will.
And I will bring glory to His name.
What a beautiful, much needed, and comforting word from God today.
I read this and felt reassured that the Lord is with me. That He will never leave me nor forsake me.
Even though I’m not facing a serious trial right now involving life or death, persecution of my faith, sickness or divorce, or a wayward child, I am dealing with difficulty at work and am seeking Jesus for help.
Maybe you are dealing with a serious problem right now. Being a believer in Jesus means He is your God and your Papa.
Cry out to Him. Thank Him for all the good in your life, that you’re still breathing.
Don’t feel like you’re good enough? Don’t feel like you do enough right because you still sin? Do you feel like because of your actions you’re not faithfully following Him?
Well, you’re still talking to God right? Still asking Him for help? Even angry at Him for this problem in your life? That means you’re still in it! You’re striving with God and He can handle it.
You are on the path, struggling just like me, just like every believer, but we keep our eyes fixed straight ahead to our God. Jesus is by your side.
Call out to Him and He will rescue you. And you will bring glory and honor to the name of Jesus.
Don’t take my word for it, take His!
In the trenches with you,
Dave
