Psalm 27:14 NLT
This verse hit me hard in a good way.
I’ve been praying for nearly a year now about a difficult situation at work. It has been deteriorating this entire year. From not good to worse.
This verse encouraged me immediately when I read it. I’m sure it is the Lord speaking to my heart, telling me to wait on the Lord. To wait patiently on His timing.
While waiting, I will be brave and courageous. I looked up “Be Strong” and “Courageous” in what the Masoretic text., I read Strong’s Hebrew definitions and for Be Strong the description “to bind, be constant, to fortify” speak to me loudly. I read this as to bind myself, be constant, fortify myself in God and His word. This is how I am to be strong.
“..establish, fortify, harden, increase,” are some of the ways Strong’s defines “Courageous” or “Take Courage”. I am being courageous when I establish myself in God, fortify my heart in His Word, when I increase or press into God and His presence becomes more in my life. This is how I am Courageous.
Both of these words in the Hebrew are verbs. Meaning they are action words.
How do I bind or fortify myself in God? How do I establish, fortify, increase myself in God?
I will seek Him first in the morning, through prayer, His Word and meditating on His Word throughout the day.
Through worshiping Him.
Through remembering on His faithfulness in our lives. That He always is with us in the valleys and on the mountain tops.
Through remembering our failures but dwelling on His forgiveness.
Through remembering the most important fact – that He gave up Jesus for us.
God loves you – more than you or I can comprehend.
While you and I wait for the Lord to help us in our respective situations, press into Him, fortify yourself in Him and you will be strengthened and hardened in the Lord.
In the name of Jesus, may Yahweh bless you and your family this Monday.
Your brother in Christ,
Dave
