Commit your actions to the LORD,
and your plans will succeed.
Proverbs 16:3
“your actions” or in other translations “your works” is the Hebrew phrase “maʿăśê” Per Strongs, מַעֲשֶׂה maʻăseh, mah-as-eh’; from H6213; an action (good or bad); generally, a transaction; abstractly, activity; by implication, a product (specifically, a poem) or (generally) property:—act, art, bakemeat, business, deed, do(-ing), labor, thing made, ware of making, occupation, thing offered, operation, possession, × well, (handy-, needle-, net-) work(ing, -manship), wrought.
I take this as your work, deeds, actions, business.
If we commit our ma’aseh to the Lord our plans will succeed.
What does it mean to commit?
“Commit” is used to represent from the Hebrew the verb, gâlal. Strongs defines גָּלַל gâlal, gaw-lal’ as; a primitive root; to roll (literally or figuratively):—commit, remove, roll (away, down, together), run down, seek occasion, trust, wallow.
Dictionary.com defines Commit as:
- to do; perform; perpetrate:to commit murder; to commit an error. Synonyms: execute, effect
- to pledge (oneself ) to a position on an issue or question; express (one’s intention, feeling, etc.): Asked if he was a candidate, he refused to commit himself.
- to bind or obligate, as by pledge or assurance; pledge: to commit oneself to a promise; to be committed to a course of action.
- to consign for preservation: to commit ideas to writing; to commit a poem to memory.

I think I’m getting it…. I could be wrong of course but I think it means to decide to do EVERYTHING you do in the name of Jesus, for the name of Jesus, and by the name of Jesus.
It is a contract, pledge, agreement that all you do will be done in the right way – obeying His commandments of loving Him and loving others, treating others the way you want to be treated.
Commit or pledge, agree to do everything in manner that glorifies Jesus always and your plans will succeed.
I love these nuggets the Lord gives us.
Super encouraging and wisdom from above.
Your brother in the trenches,
David
